Abstract:

In the mountains on the island of Evia (Euboea, Euboia), Mt. Dirfis, Mt. Kandilio and Mt. Ochi, we discovered two new species of Cicadettini. One species, Cicadetta dirfica sp. n. was found on the southern slopes of Mt. Dirfis and Euboeana gen. n. castaneivaga sp. n. at the same locality, on Mt. Kandilio in the NW and on Mt. Ochi in the southern part of the island. Cicadetta dirfica is morphologically very similar to other species of the C. montana species complex, but has a different and characteristic sound pattern. However, E. castaneivaga sp. n. has some different morphological characteristics and a very unusual sound pattern for this group of species.
